Brief Summary of Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Engineering to lead and manage Copado's AI product development efforts. This individual will oversee the engineering teams responsible for designing, building, and maintaining cutting-edge AI-driven solutions, leveraging advanced technologies such as large language models (LLMs), machine learning, and testing automation.
As the Director of Engineering, you will play a critical role in defining Copado’s technical direction, driving innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality AI products. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of enterprise software solutions in the DevOps space.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing engineering team to deliver AI-powered product solutions.
- Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for AI product development, aligning with Copado’s overall goals and objectives.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
- Project Management:
- Oversee multiple engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions.
- Work closely with product management, design, and other stakeholders to align on priorities and requirements.
- Implement Agile methodologies to ensure efficient workflows, iterative development, and rapid delivery.
- Technical Oversight:
- Drive the architecture, design, and development of AI-based systems, leveraging expertise in Salesforce development, backend and frontend development, and AI technologies.
- Ensure best practices in software engineering, including testing automation, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
- Collaborate with data science teams to integrate LLMs, machine learning models, and other AI technologies into enterprise applications.
- Team Development:
- Build and scale the engineering team by recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent.
- Provide coaching, professional development, and performance management to team members.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Act as a bridge between engineering and other departments, ensuring alignment and effective communication.
- Represent the engineering function in leadership meetings and contribute to company-wide decision-making.
We Are Looking for Someone With
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s or Ph.D. is a plus.
- Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in leadership roles (Director, Senior Manager, or equivalent).
- Proven track record in managing enterprise software development projects from concept to delivery.
- Expertise in Agile methodologies and experience managing cross-functional teams.
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficient in Salesforce development, including platform capabilities and integration.
- Deep knowledge of backend (Python, Node.js, Java) and frontend (web) development technologies.
- Hands-on experience with AI systems, including large language models, machine learning, and automation frameworks.
- Strong understanding of testing automation, CI/CD processes, and enterprise-grade security practices.
- Leadership Skills:
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to attract and retain top talent.
- Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Preferred Skills
- Experience in DevOps and/or AI-driven automation.
- Familiarity with enterprise SaaS products and multi-tenant architectures.
- Background in scaling engineering teams and infrastructure in fast-growing organizations.
